Europe’s Leading Airline 2016 – Lufthansa

Europe’s largest airline – Lufthansa was the recipient of multiple awards at this year’s World Travel Awards. For the sixth year in a row, Lufthansa has been named “Europe’s Leading Airline,” at the World Travel Awards.

During the gala event, president and founder of the World Travel Awards Graham E. Cooke said, “It is an honor to recognize Lufthansa as Europe’s Leading Airline once again this year. During our 22-year history, the carrier has consistently been one of the most innovative, forward-looking airlines in European aviation, and it is no surprise our voters have recognized their achievements once again this evening.”


Jens Bischof, member of the Lufthansa German Airlines executive board and chief commercial officer of the Lufthansa Group, commented on the honor stating, “From this year onward our passengers can enjoy the full benefit from our multi-billion investments in quality, equipment and services. This enables us to continue to further expand our leading position in the group of international premium airlines.”

The award comes on the heels of a number of other accolades they have recently received which include: “Best Airline Transatlantic,” “Best Airline in Western Europe,” “World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge,” and “Best short-haul Airline.”

Lufthansa Airlines is Europe’s largest airlines in terms of passengers carried and the fleet size. Also known as Deutsche Lufthansa has two major operating hubs in Europe -Frankfurt Airport and Munich Airport. Lufthansa is the founding member of Star Alliance and serves various destinations worldwide. The airline has a code share agreement with Air India, Luxair, Air Malta and JetBlue Airways.
